Resister Campaign

Gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking) is a common form of injustice in the Netherlands and worldwide.
Currently, 48% of women in the Netherlands have experienced violence or sexual violence and every year, 200,000 people in our country are victims of domestic violence. Yet we do not always come into direct contact with this in our own living environment. Many people and churches are unaware, ignorant and indifferent or consider this subject taboo and private.
Fortunately, there are a lot of organisations and initiatives trying to highlight and eradicate gender based violence. However, there is a lack of overview of all these organisations so our website and work on the RESISTER project sought to provide a road map to what resources are available. Basically, a GoTo platform for counselling routes, material and financial resources and a platform to share stories.
With the Resister campaign we sought to make people stand up against gender-based violence in their daily life, in their own environment.
Strategy
Listening to and hearing each other is "key" in restoring relationships. Through this platform, women and men who have experienced violence can share their stories, putting those affected in contact with others who have similar stories.
Concept
We developed a platform in the form of a website for people who need help with gender based violence – either victims themselves or those who want to stand up and help others. You too can be ‘a Resister’ and help end violence against men and women.
Content
We developed a website where materials were made available so that action could be taken against violence in our communities. We also recruited the help of various well-known personas as ambassadors to bring attention to this plight and to advertise the website.
